Comment: this is no doubt a historic moment and 1 i am looking 4ward 2 witnessing, even wish i could b there n person 2 do so, however, i must write i do take issue w/ people putting out $50,000 + 4 an event/dinner, particularly w/ the financial state of the WORLD. i just don't get it. on one hand there's all this talk about people losing their homes, jobs, etc. and here u have the other extreme. where's the balance? and i'm still waiting 2 c some CHANGE, but i'm going 2 reserve criticism until at least the prez-elect has been n office 4 6 months.

Comment: Barnone I co-fuvkin-sign...where are the inauguration parties within our budget, the motherfuvkin I ain't gotz no damn money budget??? Excesses like this really %*$! me the fuvk off and how much of that money is actually coming to DC, cause all our fuvkin resources will be tied up for this shyt!

Name: bigchassie
Comment: BARNONE>i would like to know where is this money going to? it's rediculous to pay that much for dinner and a party. i know it's historic and all but dayum, this has to go for a good cause, because yeah, we are in a freakin recession here. shoot, i know for 50,000 they better not be serving no chicken dinners! lol!

Name: bigchassie
Comment: DCGG>sho nuff ditto on that one! *high five*

Comment: Dayum y'all acting like they asked y'all to chip in to buy these tickets. Not everybody is broke--like me. I'll be watching the inauguration from the comfort of my living room. But hell, If I had tix and someone offered me $50k for them, I would give them up in a heartbeat. My friends in DC are making a killing off of these rich folks. One friend rented out her 3br townhome for he week @ $1200/night. Don't hate -- congratulate!!

Comment: Wish I had the money to waste...I'd be right up in there...Barack is the Man!!

Name: barnone
Comment: as usual mofo's miss the point. it ain't about hating and it's irrelevant if "u" can afford 50 G's. it's that individualistic attitude which has contributed 2 the peril state of the GLOBAL economy. get a damn clue.

Name: bigchassie
Comment: ANGEL>shoot, hunny, you can best beleive, if i had 50,000 dollars,i'll donate to one of Obama's favorite charities and save the rest for i'll be in somebody's hotel suite looking at a wide screen TV suckin on a chicken bone and drinkin some cheap champage toasting the new presient and be wearing a T shirt saying "I WAS THERE AND I GOT THIS SHIRT FOR 10 DOLLARS! LOL!

Name: MOTHERSHIP
Comment: I believe the funds are going to offset the inaugural expenses.

Name: Angel
Comment: barnone - Get a grip. How do you know that the people paying $50k for tickets have not already given millions to charity and towards helping the Global Economy?! Are you the accountant for all of these people, including the one's selling them?! If not, then STFU!!! I assume make all of your clothes, eat at home and don't indulge at all so that you can send the majority of your income to help the Global economy since it is in such peril. Oh no, you probably spend more time telling other folks what to do with THEIR money. By the way, this is a form of COMMERCE that does help the economy. Do you know how many people will make money and save jobs in DC just based on the inauguration? You need to get a damn clue.

Name: Angel
Comment: Also, if this money is going toward offsetting the cost of the inauguration like Mothership said, then you should be thankful that folks are spending this loot instead of it all coming out of taxpayers pockets. The inauguration is not a required event where people are being forced to spend money they don't have. If you don't have free tix and can't stay at your cousin's house in DC, then you have to watch it on tv like the majority of the world.

Name: Angel
Comment: Bigchassie - I will be sitting right next to you with my Obama hat and party favor. LOL

Name: DCGG
Comment: Pulease the money ain't even gonna be enough, DC has to import extra police in addition to pay the current trifaling azz mofos overtime...businesses downtown are forced to close to accomodate the millions coming here, emergency rooms are already run rampant with illegals, don't even get me started on Fire trucks etc and don't forget DC ain't a state, we don't get Federal funding for certain shyt like states...I'm sticking by my point that it's excessive waste period!

Name: Dovelyone
Comment: Wwwowowowowwo...what HYPOCRISY! Where were all these criticisms about charitable donations before now? When will folk learn that unless you payin', you ain't sayin' and STOP telling folk how to spend their own money, money THEY EARNED/STOLE/PIMPED FOR? Please...it's hateration at the highest denomination. If I had $50G to DONATE to the campaign which, in turn, provided access to attend the inauguration, I didn't PAY for anything...that was the reward for my donation, like when you donate to public radio/TV. The dollar amount doesn't come close to measuring the "gift" of attending a presidential inauguration of what just so happens to be the most historic ceremony to date (in my eyes). I agree with whoever said that those who have donated to the inaugural already have regular charitable donation schedule/program. Stop hating and celebrate the moment.

Comment: I don't live in DC, but I cosign with DCGG. I can understand her point. I don't give a damn how folks spend THEIR money, but I've got PLENTY to say about how the taxpayers' dollars are spent. The police and security will be such that this country has NEVER seen. ONE inauguration ball is sufficient. TEN is extravagant. As far as I'm concerned, given the current state of our country, they can SKIP the hoofin' altogether, and Barack can take his narrow azz into the Oval Office right after the swearing-in ceremony AND GET TO WORK, instead of fiddling while Rome burns!

Name: EJBL
Comment: I live in DC and have know idea what the money is going too. It will be a moment in history and I'm happy I reside in DC and don't have to pay to be a part of this moment!!

Name: bigchassie
Comment: HEY ANGEL! WE'LL BE AT EJBL'S HOUSE GETTIN OUR SIP SIP ON! I'LL BRING THE CHICKEN WANGS AND THAT 10 YEAR OLD BOTTLE OF HENNESEY I GOT THAT HAS NEVER BEEN OPENED. YOU CAN BRING SOME OBAMA PIE SINCE THAT IS ONE OF HIS FAVORITE THINGS TO EAT. WE'LL HAVE OBAMAPIE ALA MODE! LOL! HOW ABOUT DAT? *gives Angel and EJBL some "Obama Dap"*

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: <sigh> There are millions going. There are a few who can donate over $25K and yes I understand that YOU are not one of them, and this is okay. It's also okay that those who can donate has. Stop the Drama and keep the Peace!

Name: ss69054
Comment: Co-sign ladybyrd: This is too much drama on the board about somebody's else money. LoL! Calm down people, they not asking you for 25k or 50k. Folks who pay this much can afford too. I'm not press and surely don't care. I am assuming this money is going to the lavish events set aside for the rich and famous folk or maybe charity. But anyhows, I just look forward to January 20th.

Name: soulmusic101
Comment: Angel...I am cracking up reading the comments but I agree with u...If I had 50k ((I don't), yes I would be there with a quickness.

Name: MzTee
Comment: I don't have $50K and even if I did, I probably wouldn't pay it to attend the inauguration. I understand the historic significance of it, but $50K is more than I'd ever be willing to pay attend -- $5K maybe, $50K -- HELL to DA NAW. But, I ain't mad at those who can afford to pay and have paid to attend. As others have said, it's their money -- ISHT, they can afford it. And, I ain't never been one to say what folks should do with their money. Because as soon as you do, it gives folks the right to tell you what to do with yours. And, I'll be damned if folks are going to tell me how to spend my money, especially if they didn't help me earn it.

Name: allaboutlydia
Comment: Actually they are asking US to pay for it. Well at least if you're on Obama's email list and have donated to his campaign. I received an email yesterday asking me to donate to the inauguration. My donation would enter me into some type of drawing where me and four guests would be flown to DC and allowed to attend the inauguration and ball.

Name: allaboutlydia
Comment: Not directed to anyone in particular, but why is it that when people disagree on this board they are called "haters" or drinking "hate kool aid." We're not going to all agree. Disagreeing doesn't mean that you are hating on the subject/individual that you are disagreeing with.
