Comment: Is it me or does anyone else find this article and CNN's poll totally ridiculous? Why is it even relevant to survey folks to see if "conditions have worsened" or improved? How about doing some damn journalism and research to actually find out if things have changed and how? Empirical research factors anyone? Man... I feel like I really wasted minutes out of my life reading this article.

Comment: And you say this to say what. We don't know who was polled or how many people were polled. Polls lie too you know. Why in the 21st Century do we still have meet and talk about race issues in the US. At this day and time instead of continuous talking things should be done. All of this talk and nothing to show for it. People reallly need to start loving themselves and know that this is the only life you will have on this side of Heaven and we all should love and enjoy it. People are so afraid of this one getting more in material things than the next one. You can't take none of this stuff with you and black continue to make white people rich. So what's the change. Stop buying all of this name brad stuff and expensive things you can't afford and live within your means and I think people will be so much happier. I refuse to make some other race rich off of the little money I make just to say I wear this brad or that. Wake the F up people.

Comment: You also have to wonder "why" the constant emphasis is always on black men and women, but NEVER other races. Women of all races are pulling themselves up.

Comment: The polls if they are to be believed don't tell us any new information. The issue that CNN seems to dance around is the impact of racism on these numbers. How does overt, subtle and institutional racism impact people of color and just who is responsible? I don't think the majority of white people are racist but, I do think many of them are in a collective denial and are complicit in the racism that impacts African American people. One example is sub-prime mortage mess. African Americans who could have qualified for a prime loan with more favorable rates were disporportionately steered into sub-prime loans. It is one thing to state the obvious but, what are the solutions? Too often media (and even some Black people) will focus on the individual while not addressing the role of government and the larger society.

Comment: I am terribly disturbed by CNN's random polls and surveys on everything black, does anyone else find this unusually strange and annoying? Uhmmm CNN, I get it... the world hates black people in every country...etc..etc... but Why should you care because you contribute to the stereotype by just having a network located in an "urban" area with little or no visibly black(no, wait there a couple )people on the air. I(blackpeople) am not hopeless because there is a future for me/us. And guess what, you don't have to be a black person to understand what I am saying because it's nothing but truth!

Comment: MelodyCool, They attack the black male because he is the head of the family, because when you constantly tare down the male's dignity, self respect...etc.. etc.. I guess they feel the community is a wasteland anyway, so they harp on how horrible the black family is. When you strengthen the black female and tare down the black male, you have sucessfully reorganized the family structure and this structure will not survive(although black females have carried heavy loads for generations, it still puts a strain on the family and cause harm to the very important family structure)That is the reason these people constantly bemoan the o'cursed black race!Sigh.... give it up cause I aint buying it!

Comment: And what will they do about it... "NOTHING"!!!!!!! Why? because this society cares nothing about what happens to men; especially black men. They don't care if men have an education, food clothing etc. Look through the phone book under women services, then look for the men's. Look at the oppression of alimony payments etc. They also blame black men for everything and especially for the things that happen to black women. Why?? It's because of this reason I refuse to help females in any way especially if I can avoid it. So if the ship is sinking girls, save your own self. I quit and I hope alot of other guys quit as well. We deseve too.
