Comment: Shuckin' & jivin' LOL, I bet that phone call was a white-knuckler, yassa Ms Wol-ters, nah Ms Wol-ters. I would love to get in Whoopie's head to know what she thinks. What was in that article should have been SAID on air, because it doesn't "translate" well in print.

Comment: LMBAO...You know her stomach was knotted all up...Baba probaly put her on hold and made her wait...I can only guess what went through her mind..."Lawd, Jesus, please don't let me mess this up"...I don't watch the show...but you can bet, every fucced up task will be given to Sherri..."Sherri we're doing a story on the best-cheesecake in NY...Run and get some'....Yo...she can always go to "Clean-house" they need somebody to replace Nicey....

Comment: Sherri's kissing up is no surprise, this is the biggest gig she's had in her hardly noteworthy show-biz life, and I'm sure she's mindful of what Star's been through since she left

Name: McNasty
Comment: I saw the view yesterday and I have to say - Sherri being interviewed for a magazine was no place to tell her business. If she was going to put it out there it should have been in a book written by her. Magazine spun it to sell copies and didn't give a damn how it would sound after they edited it.

Name: DawnDuhDuh
Comment: Well Sherri, if things don't work out, like ol' girl said, atleast you can look forward to all those dead babies greeting you in glory! Holla Ma....Puh-leeze!

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Sounds to me that she put, into perspective, her half-qoutes from an interview in a magazine. Never made sense to me neway and the comment about BW did sound like it was a joke. Should've figured there was more to the qoute. But oh well, we spent a day bashing her as we would any other. All a day in the life of black americans.

Name: Grace12_34
Comment: I co-sign with McNasty about Sherri SHEEPHEAD putting business out there that is none of ANYBODY'S business. It's hard to believe that she would JOKE about religion. Wars have been fought over it and are STILL being fought over it. (I restate my dislike for Whoopi Goldberg here, but I'll bet Whoopi pulled her to the side and asked whether she'd lost her mind.) Many people believe a college education doesn't really matter. In the case of Ms. SHEEPHEAD, it would work wonders.

Name: Angel
Comment: musb - I don't think she meant that ish as a joke. She's backpeddling--plain and simple. How do you go from talking about feeling guilty about abortion to joking about saving Barbara Walters? She was talking to a Christian journalists and, to me, she fell into that same ol' Christian talk about saving folks and forgot her place (JMHO). I have a couple of very religious Christian friends and it just makes me want to slap them when they start talking about their "targets" to "save".

Name: kwrob
Comment: People make testimonies all the time, like I said before. If a testimony from someone who's been through what a young girl is going through now is going to help that young girl from taking their own life or continue down that dark road, then as Christians we should be all for it. These are not rumors and gossip. This is somebody's personal testimony. People are so pessimistic these days. The problem here is that a so called Christian magazine didn't report it the way it was intended by Sherry. But one thing you should never do, and that is try to make a joke through print media. It never goes over the way you intended it, because readers can't here the vocal inflections, just like in emails.

Name: mocha
Comment: She is proof that eceryone does not belong on the cover of a magazine as a featured story.

Name: adifferentpath
Comment: kwrob, I agree. print, email, texting - can get you in trouble -and email and text is usually with someone you remotely know! ahh well. we can point fingers @ sherri but she's out there for us to see. MANY folks sitting behind these words have backpeddled to save a job. *next*

Name: sadiemae
Comment: Wow! I really don't like her. She's not all that bright and I hate that she's a black woman on a major network that is talking like she is crazy. And the stuff about her aborted babies calling her "mama" in heaven -- I just have no words.

Name: Penelope
Comment: OK...Sherri's statement that she has had more abortions than she cares to count is terrible. Its one thing that she did it...I really don't care that she did, but to say she has had to many to count is just ridiculous. She could have said I have had to deal with the shame of abortions, but to quantify it to indicate that she used that for birth controls is just outrageous. I'm sorry, but I am too through with her. Too many to count?! Oh my god...some things need to stay in your heart and in your prayer closet.

Name: Fran
Comment: Oh Well, meet the new Star Jones. Just wait and see.

Name: 6footah
Comment: DawnDuhDuh, I almost choked on my smoothie!!!!! That was one of those jokes I would shun in public and snicker at behind closed doors!

Name: McNasty
Comment: Kwrob it would have been better received in her own published story. Magazines are for gossip mongers and I don't care who prints them!

Name: Angel
Comment: sadiemae - I agree. What makes her think they are going to call her mama and be happy to see her azz? I hear them yelling out "Aww dayum, here comes that skank b!tch!" I mean, would a murderer be greeted with open arms by his/her victims...hmmmmm. She should've let that quote stand as-is. Her explanation really made her look ridiculous.

Name: YLawdY
Comment: I think the thought of my aborted fetus' saying "Hi Momma" would drive me screaming from the room. Was she sure that woman wasn't trying to tell her she'd be greeted by them in Hell and not offering comfort?

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Angel...so u think that Sherri (A christian) seriously believes that she can save BW (A Jew)? That would mean that she "really" wants to convert BW from her Jewish orthodoxy to Christianity cuz there is something wrong w/BW faith. She is a comedian and even though it is a christian mag, you can make off-color jokes. She added context to the remainder of her remarks. Based on that, I have no reason to not believe what came out of her mouth...as opposed to how the media first presented the story.

Name: 6footah
Comment: I guess I'm confused. She has made a lot of mistakes, but has learned from them. I know plenty of people who have "dead babies waiting for them in heaven" (which, by the way, is the stupidest thing I've ever heard) that could use the encouragement in learning about God's grace and mercy. Sin is sin is sin, and we don't go through anything, get saved by God (not Juanita or Joyce), and then keep it to ourselves. Testimonies create connections between believers and non-believers to show what God has done for them and could do for others. I could tell by the way I read it that she wasn't bragging about the abortions, just giving her testimony. Now, would I have made the comment about BW, not sure...but I do believe that Barbara wasn't offended...only people who get scared the minute the hear someone mention Jesus get offended. Contrary to most posters, I commend Sherri on how she is handling this.

Name: YLawdY
Comment: Why she gotta be a skank byatch? They could actually be thanking her for not bringing them into the train wreck that was obviously her life.

Name: YLawdY

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Angel...uhm...I think most christians would believe that once u enter heaven..all earthly misdeeds are forgotten. From that perspective, yes, a murderer would be greeted w/open arms by all..including the victim in "god's house"

Name: 6footah
Comment: One more thought...why is everyone in an uproar about Sherri's abortions, but they darn near applauded Barbara and her multiple extra-marital affairs. Oh, its ok...she'll have her dead coochie greeting her at the pearly gates.

Name: Angel
Comment: musb - like I said, when Christian folk get around other Christian folk, this is the kind of ish they discuss. I used to be a Christian fanatic, so I don't think that it was far fetched that during an interview someone dense like Sherri Shephard would make such a statement to a Christian journalist and forget it's impact. If you believe that everyone but Christians are going to hell, you truly want to convert folks for their own good, so there was no malice intended. I just know from my own experience that devout Christians make these type of statements on the regular because they believe it is their obligation to bring all heathens to Christ.

Name: Grace12_34
Comment: BTW, she dismantled the message board at her web site because of the "negative e-mails" and "shocking graphics" she has received.

Name: TGen
Comment: Sadiemae, co-sign "I just have no words" either, lol. I CANNOT believe she actually repeated that about the aborted babies greeting her in Heaven! It's clear she has NO idea how she comes across, very poor instincts as far as public relations go. Poor thing. The "Save the Jew" joke was not a big deal to me at all, I knew it was a joke, I don't really see the offense. The bigger offense is as SadieMae states, how um, how can I say this, "UNBRIGHT" she is! lol I feel embarrazzed FOR HER, that's how bad it is. Wow...

Name: Platinum
Comment: Penelope I so agree with your comment, Sherri, that woman makes no sense to me at all. She's an embarrassment not because she had multiple abortions (something I would've kept between me and God but hey...) seems like every time she opens her mouth she shames herself. I'm sorry she's just too ignorant for me, people are no longer laughing with her but at her.

Name: Angel
Comment: Musb - Ur right....Maybe that is why I no longer go to church. LOL

Name: TGen
Comment: 6footah, you're right that a lot of women have experienced what she is, but you will be hard-pressed to find most women who've had abortions discuss it like that. I doubt many would dare say some ish like, "my babies will greet me in Heaven," at least not IN PUBLIC! lol Which is why I reiterate, unlike most entertainers, she seems to have poor instincts in the pr arena, ie even if you're wondering to yourself if the world is flat, you don't SAY THAT. Geez

Name: 6footah
Comment: TGen, I agree that she didn't think about how insensitive that comment came off about the abortions. I know who has won in this whole situation...that magazine!

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Angel..she admitted to saying it. I think our disagreement was over whether she looks as BW as a heathen sinner..or was it a joke. I think it was the latter. But I am WELL aware of how overzealous christn's get over saving folk. A couple of weeks ago, I went on a blind date and during the dinner the lady and I had a convo about nig ger and a host of other social issues. By dinner's end, she had gone to the bathroom...had been there for at least 10 minutes. When she came back, I asked her what happened and she said that she had to go pray for me and that she was gonna work to save my soul. Me being me told her "thanks but you should've been praying that I didn't leave u here..saving you the need to catch a taxi home." *snicker* yeah I know it was men..but *snicker*

Comment: Mmmhhhhmmmmm. Running scared so fast, Ms. Sheri. It would be nice if you also backtrack on the use of that N-word. Afraid of insulting Barbara, but not of insulting your own people. Uuummmhhhhmmmm.....

Name: Angel
Comment: LMAO @ Musb. In reality it could have been both (i.e. heathen sinner or joke). In any event, she should've made sure the journalist knew her azz was joking and in the future she needs to refrain from making jokes about her boss.

Name: Mas90
Comment: ANgel I co-sign with you! When other Christians get around each other they get real big headed as if they have transformed into "Big Jesus son of God"! They all agree with the same thing, they take an offering and give to the most needed Christian at the table, they read passages out the Bible, quoting and mis-quoting sh*t but no one corrects them.. they just say Amen, Amen, [background>} WELL! Christians can be so full of sh*t. Come off your damn high Jesus horse cause you're human just like the rest of us sinners! Now eat yo stale cracker and grape juice.

Comment: Mas90...You are wrong for those comments! And I mean that literally. I consider myself to be a Christian and I always will but NOT all Christians have that attitude or do those things. It seems that you have had a bad experience in somebody's church and have allowed those experiences to warp your idea of Christians as a whole. Is that true?

Comment: Angel...honestly, I doubt that the journalist "didn't" know it was a joke in the same way he/she decided to not put her "many abortions" statement in context. It was a way to get publicity for the mag..they cut and pasted for their own benefit. Yeah maybe Sheri should've known it would happen..BUT... IMO, it's ok for her to make jokes about BW as long as she and BW are aware of what the joke is. LOL@Mas/Huey/VROGER. DSophis...EUR commentary is not for the weak in spirit. Name: gingerg
Comment: Frankly, I make it a point to have as little contact as possible with people who are over the top with their Christian talk, cliques and such. Why? Because 98.5% of the ones that I've met are hypocrites. I once worked with a woman who claimed to be a prophetess and was prone to giving other people spiritual advice even though her life is messed up. On top of that, she was both delusional and a habitual liar. I was just amazed that people would listen to her when she contradicted herself so often. Also, I'm assuming Sheri got saved after she had all of those abortions. She's just backpeddling to save her job.

Name: gingerg
Comment: The babies that she killed will come up to her in heaven and say "hi momma?" What kind of twisted logic is that? You watch and see if their numbers don't fall off in the wake of this mess.

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: cosign gingerg, isn't that some twisted logic. I guess believing that helps her to sleep at night. I'm not one to cast stones but, DAMN!! She could have left this to herself. And oh yeah, her popularity level will go from low to none real quick.

Comment: See y'all really don't know what has gone on in someone's life. This is an exerpt of an interview she did two years ago: How did you become a Jehovah’s Witness? My mother. They came to the door one Saturday. My mother opened up the door, and I remember these really nice people came in…We really weren’t going to church, and we started going to the Kingdom Hall. My father started questioning the teachings of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and the elders, which are the heads of the congregation, they came to the house and they tried to talk to him. They finally dis-fellowshipped him, like excommunicated him. And they came to the house, and they told us that we had to…tell him that we couldn’t talk to him anymore. When Jehovah’s Witnesses get dis-fellowshipped, you’re to cut off all communication with them…my father was and is a great father…he pretty much sacrificed everything for his daughters. I’ve got that in my mind, I’ve got to tell my dad I’m not going to talk to him? That’s not love. That’s when I got disillusioned with being a Jehovah’s Witness… What brought you to where you are now? My mom was dying. I was getting evicted left and right… I got involved in a really abusive relationship. I just was involved with the wrong people. I got into stand-up comedy. My boyfriend went to prison--he was stalking me, and then he went to prison. I got involved in stand-up comedy. I was getting evicted. My car was getting repossessed. I went to jail…I felt like I was going to die. All this stuff was happening to me because I didn’t have God. I wasn’t going to church. I just felt like it was so evil from my upbringing. Why am I going to go to a church that was from the devil…I can’t go back to being a Jehovah’s Witness. I’m going to die, so if I’m going to die, I’m going to write all kinds of bounced checks. I’m going to sleep with a lot of people. I’m going to not pay my bills. I’m going to die anyway!" There’s one scripture, “Let’s eat, drink, and be merry, because we’re all going to die.” That’s really how I felt. Let’s do everything!... Have you ever had anyone be hostile about your faith? Yeah. One time some cast members said to me: “We don’t want you writing ‘God bless’ on your script. We don’t like you praying down on the set.”…We had a meeting, and I said: “You don’t understand. For me not to write [that]--God is so much a part of me, that’s like cutting off my right arm.” They didn’t want me to talk about God when we did interviews…I came across this Scripture that said: “Among all things try to be at peace with your neighbors.”…I went to them and said if nobody else writes anything on a script other than their name, then I’ll just write my name. But if they ask for an individual picture of me I will write “God bless.”…[As for] prayer, anybody who wanted to pray, we would pray in my dressing room. So we never prayed on the set.

Name: queeniebunz
Comment: >Musb – LMBAO! So you’re planning your second date, right? She’s taking you to church on baptism day and your waiting to go with bells on, right? LOL!!! That was funny! I’ll say this. I don’t have a problem with Christian people. I have a problem with “churched” people. They are the worst most sanctimonious hypocritical hot buttered messes you will ever meet. A churched person grew up in the church and considers their salvation to be a “get out of hell free” card. They do all kinds of sh*t and they think as long as they repent and pray on it they’ll be fine and they can move on. They make me sick. I work with one and she’s mean and evil but she used to put tracks and other mess on my chair like I’m the one who needs Jesus. She has one of the blackest hearts of anybody I’ve ever met. I’ll also say this. Sometimes when people say “I’m gonna pray for you!” it sounds like a threat – like they’re gonna sic some angels on you and whup yo azz or whateva. I’m like, don’t do me any favors because I’m not sure who you’re gonna pray to and I don’t think Jesus knows you.

Name: gingerg
Comment: I don't fool with Jehovah's witnesses either. They always show up at the wrong time. One even interrupted me when I was mowing the yard a few months ago. Works is not going to get anyone to heaven.

Name: huey

Comment: >Mas - I'm gonna try and tackle this one. When you don't have a good relationship with God, you ARE inclined to do things that aren't good for you. When you don't have the guidance of the Bible and people who follow the Bible, you will be inclined to do things that are not productive. Sin is fun. Sin is attractive. But sin also leads to a lot of mess that will hurt you in the end. Example - sex is a wonderful thing. But sex can lead to babies you don't want. Sex can lead to AIDS which can literally kill you. Sex can lead to diseases you can't get rid of like herpes. Sex can lead to abortion if you "take care of" those babies you don't want. Extramarital sex can ruin a marriage. And sex can ruin your reputation and therefore affect your interaction with others. But if you get yourself in line with the Bible which teaches about sex and it's purpose, those things won't happen. And I'm not a virgin and I've never been married so I am not speaking from a high horse. One of the few regrets I have in life is that I didn't save it for a husband. But at the time, I really didn't know it (my virginity/my body) was that valuable. I wasn't in the church. My "guidance" came from my girlfriends who would go on and on about how good sex was so I couldn't wait to get some because nobody told me it wasn't right to have sex. Everybody was so blase' about it that I didn't realize the spiritual value of sex. And once I gave it away, I wished I hadn't. Now, here I am years later and I've had a lot of sex, and a lot of good sex, but what do I have to show for it? Absolutely nothing. So yeah, not having the guidance of the Bible and people who can help you grow in your faith can hinder you. *stepping away from the testimony mic*

Comment: For the life of me I can't understand how a women can bare her soul in a Christian magazine and people not understand that she was giving a testimony.

Name: DOne
Comment: Sherri simply did what every other celebrity does these days: talk too much and assume that every detail of their life is relevant. Sometimes I think the old hollywood studio system had it right; when celebs was told what to say, how to say it, when to say it, and who to say it to.

Name: Janissi
Comment: queeniebunz>>>on point as usual!!! Calidee>>>I get it!!! That's exactly what she was doing. Regardless of all the criticism, maybe someone was encouraged by what she said regarding the abortions. A family member of mine had several, and to this day, it haunts her. It was Sherri's business to put out there, so hey.

Comment: Queenie... it's actual called good parenting. Your parents should be able to teach you the basic. It is always about religion. Realtime examples is more hard hitting than reading. There are good examples in the Bible but it isn't in current English and there are no pictures, LOL! the picture thang was a joke. If anyone of you are mad about what I say, spray urself with holy water until you cool off.

STUPID thinking! As if the parent didn't experience anything bad cause they went to church. FVCKED UP MENTALITY!!!

Name: beegirl
Comment: On behalf of my fellow journalists, it is not our fault when celebrities do not think about how their words will sound when they come out in print. At many magazines, fact-checkers go over transcripts of interviews very closely to make sure everything is right. That is why we tape everything. There is ample time before publication for someone to come back and ask that something be changed. In my opinion, the journalist did Sherri a favor by not printing the babies in Heaven thing and just the first part of the quote because in reading the board today, the Heaven explanation is being slammed. There has been an epidemic in back-tracking on quotes lately, and it's not all our fault. Before you agree to do an interview, do some media training or think about how you want to describe certain events before you meet with the reporter!

Comment: OK, I'm reading all of your comments and I watched Sherri's explanation on The View. Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see anything that Sherri did wrong. She did the right thing by apologizing to Baba Wawa. Because of a comment she made, whether right or wrong Barbara's name became public fodder and Sherri needed to apologize. Baba Wawa is also her employer and so again she needed to apologize. As far as what she said during the interview, it's her business what she chooses to put out there and why. You all make comments as if you have never done anything suspect. Most of you that are doing all of this criticizing are probably some of the most triffling niggahs and bit(hes out there. Pull the fu(k up already. SHEESH!

Comment: Calidee it's less about her baring her soul and more about that 'christian' rag misquoting her that caused her to bring it to the view. I don't have a problem with what she said - the majority of us have made huge mistakes and not only atoned for them, we saw the lesson - learned from them and share them with those on a similar path.
