Comment: this essay was a boring read and it still managed to give me WTF? brain freeze . . . . . Powell's credibility was used up to support the repugs drum beat to invade a country that was not involved in the 9/11 attack on the US . . . . . before that insanity, Powell was being discussed as a potential presidential candidate, so, the repugs got an unecessary war and got rid of a potentially potent challenger to Dubya's election bid [notice I didn't say re-election because he was appointed by the Supreme Court for his first presidential term] . . . . . whatever happens in the dems convention, at its end the veep candidate will not be Powell and rightly so

Comment: Obama is no fool. Even though Powell would make a good one, this country will do everything in their power to make sure they don't win, so to me that's a stupid statement. Obama will win. I'm sure Powell will be able to help him out behind the scene. This subject was just too much to read and wasn't saying too much. Let's be real here....

Comment: This is one of the stupidest articles I have ever read. And I thought Earl Ofari Hutchinson's drabbles were bad. Black Republicans, have yet, to make any sense. They are all about image and never about substance. They are always impressed with the Condi Rice's and Colin Powell's of this world. Black people who present themselves nicely. So it's only naturaly that they should try and slither into Democratic business with Sen. Obama at the helm. THEIR candidate is old man winter McCain, with the brown teeth. That's who they need to be looking at. And I remember when everyone was talking about Colin Powell running. I would have never voted for him. Never. Now Powell can redeem himself for being involved with that filthy murderer Bush, by campaigning with Sen. Obama. But his stupid azz cannot go on that ticket. Any Republicans that are considered, at the very least, would have had to be against this fake war from the beginning and have a military background. Sen. Chuck Hagel would fit that bill and bring a lot White males around. This Bookman negro is deluded...

Comment: I don't have a problem w/the authors suggestion of Colin Powell. His name being floated around in the presidential race is nothing new. I do not think that the republican party has a lock on being impressed by "image." I respect Powell much more than I do, Tubbs-Jones, Jackson-Lee, Young, Johnson, Butts et. al. I doubt that he will be given serious consideration for the slot. But, if democrats can "excuse" those who voted for the war despite the flawed intelligence, I am certainly willing to give Powell a pa.s.s

Comment: I disagree with some of the comments above. I didn't see anything wrong with the article, and I would support an Obama/Powell ticket. I've always thought that Colin Powell should have run in 2000. He would be probably been our first Black President of the United States. Too bad. It would be somewhat of a risky move for Barack ... one that would not come without a degree of controversy. But intellectually I'm open to it.
