If the flight attendants chose to ignore her words and base their decision to ask her to move solely because of what the father/son said then she may have some sorta case. But if there was one-way touching, then there might be an %*$ault claim and depending on the fine print in the airline contract, a good lawyer might be able to prove discrimination (racial, weight, or something else).

Comment: Black women's attitudes? We just have flavor. Deal with it. Sometimes, people forget that we are human, too, and have feelings, needs, desires, hopes and dreams.
Most of the bitter women that I know are unhappy because of poor choices that they made early in life. Today, they are dealing with the consequences of that and making themselves and everyone around them miserable.
My maternal grandmother is a prime example of that. She is in her 80's and living in a filthy apartment.
She rarely bathes and always has
a vile or crass word to say. Earlier
in life, she was a beautiful woman, but she was born in the Mississippi delta, couldn't get an education and had several children that she really didn't want. The last one was light skinned and fathered by someone other than my grandfather. She favored him because of that and he has always taken advantage of her. As a result, she is now broke. My grandfather stayed with her because it was
the "right" thing to do, but it was not a loving marriage.

And there's no case of racial discrimination unless one of the airline employees made reference to her race before removing her from the flight. Legally, a flight crew has the right (and the duty) to eject anyone from a flight whom they determine to be a menace. There has been much dispute about that rule, but so far it's held-up in federal court. But you're right -- it will be in Alaska Airlines best interest to give her $10k-$20k just to go away.

About one or two years ago this boy who looked to be between the ages of 6-10 gon say to me in the supermarket, "Hi fat lady". I couldn't believe that boy would say that. Comment: I think some of you are misunderstanding the situation. From Frenchie's account, she was not in the man or his son's seat. She was seated by the window. The father wanted her to put the arm rest down, I assume to create some separation between her and his son since the boy was complaining about having to sit next to the "big black person". But, IMO, I do believe she may have faked being sleep or if she was sleep, she was not that deep in sleep that she could not hear what was being said. I think she may have faked sleep to pretend she didn't hear the boy's comment to keep from being embarassed. But when the father put his hands on her, she was forced into the situation.

I bet if that had been a big white lady sitting/sleeping there the little boy would have no problem and generally if there is a conflict between a white and a black the norm is that the white person is suspected as innocent and the black as the trouble maker. Acutally I'm more surprised by the amount of people making comments about the possible discrimation aspect. I didn't azzume that Frenchie was so large that she took up two seats, in fact if that was the case more than likely she would have been told she had to purchase two seats, there are large people who can fit in one seat you know. Personally I feel that Frenchie should have put down the armrest as soon as she sat down, that's what I always do when flying, it creates at 'barrier' for each person's personal space and that should have solved the problem or at least it would have been clear cut that it was discimination. At any rate, regardless if one thought their personl space was being violated, it doesn't give you the right to call someone out of their name or put your hands on someone. The kid was rude but no doubt he learned it from his father. This should be interest to watch, seems like there is a higher incident of rudeness on airlines than ever before especially against blacks (remember Monique) then again it could be a pattern, Frenchie, Monique you know all big black women are loud and rowdy (thin women never are, have you noticed that, all thin women are nice, pleasant and always have good attitudes, the fat ones on the other hand...) so automatically we actually should azzume the worse (LOL)

I'm surprised that Alaska didn't immediately give her free first class voucher good for the rest of the year to keep this quiet and to keep her as a customer. I complained about some delays and customer service issues on United and they responded quickly with a $100 off voucher. The airlines are gripping right now over delays and poor customer service and folks are starting to discover that for short trips that it's quicker and less stressful to drive, or rent a limo or luxury bus if you're a celeb. Alaska better make good on this if they want to avoid a mountain of negative publicity.

There are thin women who are out of shape because they do not excercise or eat poorly. Poor nutrition is poor nutrition. Monique while I don't like her methods was trying to at least have big girls understand that you can be attractive and large. That doesn't mean you are supposed to be outsize but more of whatever you size you are supposed to make sure that you look as good a possible. Too many times larer women were not doing anything to enhance the looks that they had, often they felt that they were fat so why even try, they were wearing big clothes, trying not to be fashionable and pretty much putting their life on hold until the magical time when they sudddenly lost weight and all was well with the world. Unfortunately that doesn't happen that often so you have depressed cause they are overweight, then eating because they were depressed, so they got bigger, a nasty cycle to break. If you have self esteem you more than likely will do more to take care of yourself including excercising and trying to do better at food choices (some big chicks are even afraid to go to the gym because they think they'll be laughed at.) Many people with naturally high metabolisms eat all kinds of ish and don't gain weight so no one cares that they are often eating the same bad things as bigger people (believe me there are four chicks at my job that eat McDonald's all day long, never gain a pound and God Bless them but if everyone had a metabolism like that, we would eat the world and there would be more hunger) Again the main key is good diet and excercise FOR EVERYBODY. Anyway off of my soap box.

But anyway, deep down I glad I'm gay cause I don't have to worry about getting married, having kids, etc. My only responsiblilty is me which I go after my dreams and goals. It's one of the best things to have only you to think of. If I want someone special in my life, I let them in but if it ain't working I give them da boot wit the quickness! :-) But anyway, live your life. PEACE!
