Comment: I'm gonna use the "I" word to describe this fool...IDIOT! Nuff said

Name: Renetta
Comment: I stand corrected. I heard 50cent was forming a new label and that the new R&B soul artist Governor was his new breakout artist. I thought 50 was trying to formulate a new image for himself and distance himself from this woman hating shyt he and the rest of DL crew and yeah DL because I think most of these mf that spew this shyt are thug fudgepackers - get my drift. Anyway, I see it's the same ole same ole. I'M GLAD RAP SALES ARE DOWN 20% and I hope the sales keep plummeting. Maybe then 'brothas' will understand sistas are tired of being referred to as b and h.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Talking bout spitting out my Odwalla...LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL...That damn Curtis is hilarious. That shyt was FU-UH-NEEEEEE! Great articulation Curtis. They should've had YOU on Oprah...HAHAHAHAAAAAHAHAHAAA! Nah..cuz they really would've been mad!!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.....

Name: YLawdY
Comment: The manimal was articulate and the Master P line was funny. I guess meetings about marketing strategies, negotiating with realtors for multi-million dollar properties, checking up on the accountants, etc. wouldn't make very interesting rap songs. We know where you've been. Where are you now?

Name: SeriousBrother69
Comment: Well, I hope he has other irons in the fire because it's a wrap for Mr. Fifteen Cent.

Name: 1887
Comment: Rappers think nothing of calling women B______s and H_s, but those same rappers would want to fight or shoot somebody for calling them the punka$$ B-----s that they are. And talk about the money--just like the H_s they talk about, they sing what they sing for the money, so who's a H_? No matter how much money they make or how many board rooms they enter, or companies they run, its a pity you can't buy class, because people like 50cent truly are only worth 50cent when you talk about class.

Name: amethyst
Comment: Do rappers have parents? No child of mine would produce music with disgusting lyrics without hearing my mouth loud and clear. No amount of money or bling-bling would keep my disapproval quiet.

Name: BigSexy
Comment: I think most thug rappers are on the DL too. Their CD sales will continue to drop. I'm not worried about these low life punks. They will reap what they sow.

Name: Renetta
Comment: That line 'it's the harsh realities that end up in the music' is bullshyt. Alright, men who live in the ghetto claim that they rapp about the type of women that are around them. Whatever, many of us grew up poor and yes there were some hos but not all women in the ghetto are hos. Conversely, if most female groups ONLY rapped about men who don't support their children - live in their mamas homes until their 40, have criminal records... Brothers would be calling them bytches. IF WOMEN IN MUSIC LACED THEIR LYRICS WITH THE SAME NEGATIVE JABBS ABOUT BROTHAS THE WAY 'BROTHA'S RAPP ABOUT THEM, THE MEN THAT FREQUENT THIS BOARD WOULD BE ANGRY AS HELL. Just like the little girl kevin lyles got angry as hell when Stanley called them clowns. They can dish it but they can't take it.

Name: imtalking
Comment: But what about the women thats taking these roles, remember how harsh the game talked about Mya. who was in the video??? None other than Mya herself(the bi...)he talked about phukn', Also yall know there is porn Movie being product or is already produced Call nappy head h's, and its not wt women staring in it. Find it on TMZ So who's fault is it really? To me the b's and the h's.

Name: TGen
Comment: So unfortunate to see some lagging behind. Anyone, especially in entertainment, who's on top of things should be able to see that there is a changing tide in their industry. If one wanted to get ahead of the curve, he/she would make subtle but significant change toward the less vile and offensive. No need to come out and announce it like a Master P or the like. Better to just observe the change and be on top of it. Entertainers/Businesses/whomever who fail to see shifts in their consumers inevitably lose them. I predict 50 is in for a rude awakening. The market will show him just how tired his "start-beef-with-every-rapper, sex this, f that, shoot this, kill that" mantra really is. Po thang...

Name: Southernbelle
Comment: While I don't agree with 50's statement I must say that he gave a semi-intelligent response. Surprisingly, he's more articulate on his position than most.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: Hate it or love it..50 LIVES!!!!!! Curtis for President!!!!

Name: leeneepoo
Comment: Southernbelle: I agree with you I suprise to read the articulation in 50 statement..he almost had me at "music is a mirro"..LOL Herbs too funny....

Name: BlkATLTop
Comment: Yeah, President of the Apes

Name: Gurlfrand
Comment: Guess 50 is defending his "professional reputation" to be able to keep bytches & ho's in his lyrics.....

Name: Renetta
Comment: TGen: Very well said. They obviously don’t get it. Sales are down 20% and that was BEFORE the Imus controversy. I hope 50 does do a turnaround and sign Governor to his new label. That young brother is a reincarnation of Marvin Gaye. I swear, I love his music and never once does he use the word bytch or ho. 50 wake up!

Name: eurwebfan
Comment: Yea only an ape will say this, 50 cent is done, he ain't done %*$! to hip-hop, but made it more disastrous.

Name: tightendsport
Comment: That stupid%*$!(@!(, I'm done with hip hop until these jerks can and will do better. Talk about something else, rappers, PLEASE!!!

Name: mseffy
Comment: TGen and Renetta>>>Very insightful comments. Are you familiar with Kenna? There was a very nice write-up on him in the Los Angeles Times a while back. The brother sounds like a renissance man...climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro AND making music. He can write music, play piano, the whole package. Now that's the kind of brother whose music I want to hear...I KNOW HE HAS SOMETHING TO SAY!!!

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: HA-HA!..Ya'll just mad cuz Curtis clocked in @41 mil last year..ahead of Letterman, Paul McCartney, Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings), Denzel, Elton, Jay Leno, Trump, Pitt, Kobe, Cowell, etc.

Name: Renegade
Comment: Jamal must be one of 50's video girls. I hope that he broke you off some of that 41 mil for shakin' yo azz.

Name: justafu
Comment: The bigger question is after all of us "clean up" rap & hip hop LIKE WHTE FOLKS TOLD US To, then what's next?! ...In the meantime, please pardon me now as I hit this BLUNT while listening to Mozart!!!

Name: beegirl
Comment: Let's make a person who exploits and dogs out his/her own people for financial gain the new definition of H. I am so tired of the argument that rap reflects reality, so the lyrics can't be changed. The rappers who really reflect reality don't get played on the radio. The ones who LIE about how many women they get (when they don't get any. See the Yin Yang Twins), how many cars they have (when they were riding the bus until they got their advance), and how many people they've shot (when they haven't seen a gun that wasn't behind the counter at Wal-Mart) are the ones who get played on the radio. What reality was in "Magic Stick"? I mean, really. By the way, in my opinion, calling a Bk man an ape is no better than calling a Bk woman an H. Just as offensive and unnecessary in my eyes.

Name: YLawdY
Comment: What is Odwalla?

Name: YLawdY
Comment: Ape is offensive. How about missing link?

Name: BlkATLTop
Comment: Odwalla is a brand of healthy beverages (teas, juices, soy milk). The brand is owned by the coca-cola company. Can find it at grocery or convenience stores.

Name: butterpecanrican
Comment: It's no wonder the man can't describe the scene around him without using B's and H's. The man has a swivel chair as his front seat so he can get lapdances on the go. He's not trying to look at anything else in the black community.

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: lol@justafu..YLAWD..Odwalla is a brand which makes a lot of all-in-one fruit-like drinks and smoothies in a bottle. Orange/Banana/Pineapple...Pomegranate/Blueberry...Mang o/orange/apple etc. They're loaded w/antioxidants a bunch of vitamins. We could be get'n ripped off but they are good...AND not cheap. 3.29 for a lil 16o but them shytz be good tho'...

Name: musbdherbs
Comment: oh my bad..nevermind...what he said ^

Name: gogoemma
Comment: This is coming from a women, those words do not hurt me because they DO NOT APPLY TO ME. If SOME women of the world would carry themselves as such, then men would not have anything to say about them. Women need to stop sucking, F_ _ _ _ing and tricking for a BIG payday from a baller. They need to stop lying on their backs trying to fit in the in crowds. Ladies this is why some of your are called HO'S, %*$!(es and Tricks, get up off your backs, get educated and then get a job to hold your own. So if those words don't apply to you then why get mad, and somebody can comment on this, because we can go all day on this topic.

Name: TesticAl
Comment: Ferrari isn't a millionaire for nothing. Dude is always good for a laugh. I bet most of the people in here bashing 50 are old and don't even listen to rap and aren't up on game in the hip hop world. They're just bashing to be bashing. gogoemma, I love you. I mean that. You are gonna get these OLD women in here RILED up with your post. They're going to start quoting Bible verses and stuff. LOL!

Name: SweetieDarlin
Comment: Fifty has been always articulate, just as well as Too Short and many other Rappers, the language heard lyrics are basically for 'show', no doubt encouraged by the records companies that want to make the money. Keep in mind as much as many of us find some the content offensive there are many, many, many who are buying this stuff black and white. I think it does go back to the consumer, if there was no market there would be no product. Fifty, Ying/Yang, and the like do sell. The fact that sales are down has nothing to do with the content per se as sales are down overall. We need to work for a society in which lyrics should not be such a great influence, a society where you should know the difference between something done for entertainment and reality. As much as we regular women try to fight it, these men are talking about Bs and Hs because they do exist and definately exist in the world where guys have money. Consider the source of these words, and the reality we live in, upstanding women do exist in the same realm of Bs and Hs, I doubt the rappers who use these words are referring to their mom's, sister or their ladies and certainly anyone who uses these words based on what they hear in a record has a big problem with discernment, something that should be taught at home. One other thing with the Ape cracks, would you feel better if Fifty was fine and making these same comments?

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: leeneepoo > "Music is a Mirror" was said by Russell Simmons on Oprah, and he knows how to regurgitate.

Name: YLawdY
Comment: SweetieDarlin ....the comments about his looks are just an aside. Doesn't matter if he's fine or not.

Name: SweetieDarlin
Comment: Cool YLAWDY, I feel better LOL!

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: Rap isn't the only genre that's down in sales, it's cd purchases across the board.

Name: Renetta
Comment: Until we as women STAND up and DEMAND that this stop it won't. I won't make excuses for the men that use the lyrics or the women who degrade themselves by participating in the videos, buying the music or just nodding their heads to it and saying 'they ain't talkin bout me so I don't care' I care. Because Americas image of us is painted by these thugs. We are the ONLY group of women who are referred to this way in the mass media and it happens because we continue to say nothing or make excuses. Well I resent it and I will speak out against until it stops.

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: I can't even watch a Hip Hop video. They are all the same it causes nausia.

Name: mseffy
Comment: Sweetie>> I agree w/most of your post. In my experience in corporate America, those who need to resort to name-calling are trying to hid their own weaknesses (like NO EDUCATION). I'm not talking about the offensive comments only, I'm talking across the board. I wonder if '50' ever called one of his female business partners (assuming he has any), a B or H? We are what we repeatedly do. That translates into the words we use when we speak. You can't switch from vulgar speech to civilized speech on a daily basis and not have it bit you.

Name: SweetieDarlin
Comment: We are not the only ones who use the terms B and H it's just more detrimental because there is no balance. Other women even make these comments to each other yet they take it as 'fun' because it's not considered a truism for an entire race of women. I don't know about others but the comments I make are explanations not excuses, excuses mean condoning which I do not, an explanation allows us to define the problem and try to resolve it.

Name: TesticAl
Comment: mseffy, where you serious with this comment right here? "those who need to resort to name-calling are trying to hid their own weaknesses (like NO EDUCATION)." Were you really serious. How are you basing someone calling someone a name to not having any education? That is the dumbest thing I have EVER heard! I'm not starting anything with you, I just want to know if you were serious or not. If you were, please explain why.

Name: TesticAl
Comment: mseffy, one more thing, you said you can't switch from vulgar speech to civilized speech on a daily basis and not have it bite you. Where are you getting this from? I do, as well as a lot of other do that ALL OF THE TIME EVERY DAY! I'm in the military, and I'm a student. I don't speak the same at work as I do in school, and vice versa. It's called code switching. I curse up a storm on here all day and not care about anything, but when I leave this computer, I'm civil and calm. According to your previous post, I'm hiding a weakness and have no education, both of which are false.

Name: SweetieDarlin
Comment: Testic, thanks, didn't know the name of what most of us do---Code Switching cool. Anyway as part of the older generation, that is what we are taught, offensive language means that you lack the communication skills to say the something without the language, that's what my mom an English major used to tell me. As I grew up I realized that that does not always apply, I can even say pertaining to me, I'm in management on my job but outside my job I can cuss like a sailor. For that matter most of my posts don't contain cuss words. Most people know when to use appropriate language (hence the the eloquence of Curtis Jackson, O'Shea Jackson, Tracy Marrow etc.) Then there are those who don't because they weren't taught any better.

Comment: How did Imus' comments turn everyone against rap. Women being degrated did not start with rap and it won't end there either. I know some men and women b's and h's and they don't even listen to hip-hop. I was a music manager for 7 yrs and the majority of music and rap concert tickets I sold were to white female teens. So why are we assuming the b's and h's are black woman. Don Imus said he got it from us so there we go listening to w.t. and now our own people are trying to re-route the entire rap industry. Isn't that what was done to the black panthers? They got to powerful and w.t. got scared so they, by any means necessary, shut them down. There is a way to re-direct rap but it needs to be done in house by black people. Now we are all trippin on each other and w.t. is sitting back laughing thinking they are some gullable negroes. If you have not seen T.I. comments about the Oprah show (Don Imus) on MTV check it out.

Name: ladybyrd
Comment: Rappers has heightened that denegration of BLACK women. There are plenty of songs about Ho's & "N". There's your proof.

Name: mseffy
Comment: Testi>>> I said 'across the board' or speaking in general... Isn't that what we all do when we come to these boards, because we don't know each other personally (at least, most don't). Sorry you felt I 'hit' you w/my comment. But, like they say, if the shoe fits...LOL The only dog that yells is the one who got hit. YOU ARE WHAT YOU REPEATEDLY DO. You can call it 'code switching' or whatever you like.

Name: McNasty
Comment: Sweetie Darlin good post! As long as there are groupies (and since there always have been there always will be) and video ho's and just straight up tricks there are gonna be rappers that continue to use them as material. I like what he said and the way he said it and I certainly didn't expect him to do any different cause his fan base likes him just the way he is! The 20 something generation isn't thinking about the fact that the over 35 and up generations don't care for their genre of music and its not likely that Curtis Jackson is going anywhere and ain't likely to change cause any of us think so either. I admire the fact that he has the courage of his convictions.

Name: McNasty
Comment: Ladybyrd that ain't hardly the truth. They had a whole lotta help cause I have yet to see a scripper, groupie, video ho or any of the hangers on with guns to their heads. After seeing the way some females are willing to low rate themselves (tip drill video) I have to be just as hard on them as some of y'all are on the rappers. If there were no half nekkid gyrating females willing to do anything there would be no disrespect and the rest of us would have a leg to stand on when it came to cautioning a brother about his mouth!

Name: ladyfado
Comment: Curtis Jackson sold himself out for 50 cents. He is the very definition of selling out your own people. We are watching him sell his soul to perdition. Shame on him, and shame on anyone who defends this small, ridiculous man. We should boycott him, Snoop, and any other entertainer who continues to degrade the women, men, and children of our community!

Name: TesticAl
Comment: mseffy, apparently the shoe doesn't fit me. I just pointed it out to you that it didn't. In other words, your statement was grim at best. "The only dog that yells is the one that gets hit". What tha hell? That has to be a country saying. I have never heard that before. LOL!

Name: staszzi
Comment: GROW UP!!!!! All of this crap means nothing. Rap is never gonna change. Not as long as the 'Whyt' record company conglomerates and distributors continue to make the billions that they do. Press is press, the more press, the more money (because of the heightened interest) the more money to be made. Its all run by the ones with the $$$$. Are you all really cant be naive enough to think any of these artists can individually make a decision to no longer use a certain kind of language? They Have No Power!!!!!!!! They will be sent back to the studio to rerecord faster than u can blink an eye. As for all of you baby boomers that keep complaining how rap/hip-hop is denegrating our culture,it is doing no more harm than the 'wild' days of the 60's and the following blaxploitation/drugs r us era of the 70's.

Name: oshun
Comment: i am so sick of that over-used line about "the harsh realities of our communities" when rappers try to justify irresponsible lyrics. first of all, they no longer live in those communities. secondly, i grew up probably worse off than many of them, and i can't relate one bit to their lyrics. i would bet that's true for most of us.
