I don't believe that this is all about money because Mel B has plenty of money. The spice girls are played out in the US but they are still and will remain extremely popular in the UK and will continue to receive those royalty checks.

Comment: How sadly unfortunate that is has resulted to a potential court appearance and Eddie is sooooo wrong for being immature about the situation. Time and time again I hear the same old story, a brotha casually sexes a 'fine' woman, no mention of birth control is considered or discussed, the 'oops I'm pregnancy' factor enters the picture and suddenly, the brotha has amnesia and no recollection of an affair with the sista. He then walks around saying he did not want a baby anyway.
It would be nice if some men would THINK before entering the abyss. Brothas know how much they like their money and toys and having a bunch of babies by various women can easily place him in the poor house.
I wish more men would subscribe to Samuel Jackson's philosophy. A few years ago Joy of 'The View' asked Jackson how did he stay away from temptation and he simply stated, "It is not worth HALF my money." - Enuf said.............................

Comment: I'd read somewhere that Charlie Murphy, Eddie's brother, was overeheard telling someone that Eddie had the snip. That may explain why Ed was so quick to jump into the sack sans protection. I'm sure Mel's lovin' all this attention. She's been trying to regain some limelight since the Spice Girls broke up. She could be handling this privately. Usually, Eddie answer to personal question is "I don't talk about my personal life". He should have stuck with that answer, but he choose to be mean by saying "I'm not sure who's baby that is". Remember just a month prior these two were taking trips with their kids in tow. Now, he's dodging the paternity test, come on now. I bet anyone that this IS Eddie's child.

I mean the larger issue of when a man and woman have sex, she gets pregnant, he denies it's his, she talks about him like a dog, says he's the worst thing that ever happened to her, etc. and then she ends up giving the baby that dude's name. I hear about that almost weekly around the way etc. It makes me think she is saying "I hate you!" But then she ends up demanding the baby has his last name and that he says its his. Im just thinking if that guy was that bad why would you want anything to do with his name at all? That I dont get.

Comment: It seems like the vast majority of women who post on this board seem to loose their critical thinking skills and/or project their own shyt when it comes to black male female relationships. Just because this woman says that Eddie won't take a DNA test does not meant that it is necessarily true. People can and do say anything in the media to make the other person look bad. Even if true, a civil suit of this nature is adversarial. Any competent atty will advise his client not to take the test unless court ordered. 1) as many posters pointed out, if Eddie was such a dog why give the baby his name? Who the fucck would want to be reminded by their own child of someone they hated? 2) She has questioned paternity on a TV show. If she was that sure there never would have been any questions as to paternity. 3)This golddiggin' bytch wants a lump sum to relocate and buy a house WTF!!!! I can clearly understand that Eddie has a lot of money and the child should definitely be supported if it is his but, that does not require you to buy a house!!! 4) This bytch knew she was rebound. WTF was she thinking getting with Eddie a month after his separation from his wife with whom he has 6 kids. If she wanted a serious relationship she should have given the man time to heal.

I think for individuals who have a child out of wedlock, they still the option of having the fathers name so the kid isn't known as a%*$!(@!( child. I think the Mothers hate is because of the father turning his back on her and the child. I think both parents should put their ego aside for the child.

Comment: Tman, It's a childs birthright to have the last name of the father regardless of what the mother may feel about that child "other" parent. Plus trying to wipe away the other side is selfish regardless of how paid the mother may be. My son came here under similar circumstances & it was my father who insisted that my son have "his" father's last name & not his. However, if a woman absolutly positively doesn't know who pops is then she use her own & not pin it on who she might "want" it to be.

Comment: there have been some very good and pertinent points brought up here. but once again it appears opinions are split along the gender line. i love me some black women so i am not going to be direspectful of your thoughts, even if i don't agree w/ them. as stated they are both adults: so 1.)why not act like adults and take this behind closed doors and keep it out of the yt man's court room where we seldom get justice.(if you are acting like adults it is possible, but i know there are a great deal of feelings and emotions involved here.) 2.)before you "hit that" don a glove. 3.)if i were eddie and i had any doubt, i would not voluntarily submit my dna either.((especially if i had a vasectomy) i say that because i live in a woman's state and the if you are the only one named in the petition the burden of proof is on you to prove who this woman had sex w/ besides you.) 4.) also in this state if your name is on the birth certificate, and the child is given the last name of the male it makes it that much easier for the mother to collect child support. there are far too many of us brothers who probably haven't been the best fathers, but we as men should never be persecuted for getting a woman pregnant, as though she weren't even in the room when the act occurred. why does she think she is entitled to a lump sum payment so she can buy a house? the most important person involved hear can't even speak out, and will still probably end up in a single-parent household. some may think that is ok but i don't. but that's a whole other discussion.

They had a relationship, he and Mel B. I think African American's are so numb to the fact that a child should be born to a union, not a single parent by choice. Comment: i have to agree with you on your comments. i believe that is the single most important reason we are in the state we are in today is because of single-parent households. not taking anything away from those hard-working single parents, because they are the real heroes. but like cube said in one of his cuts, to paraphrase, with pops in the house, i'd get f**ked up real quick.(for not graduating from high school).

Comment: When are we women going to hold ourselves accountable for our sexual choices? Unless you are raped, you are just as responsible for making logical CHOICES about who to lay down with and using birth control. If we all would consider the person's character, the quality of the relationship (or lack of one) and his/her parent-potential BEFORE we screw them, how different our communities would be. A high school friend once told me he wouldn't "let his d**k rule his destiny". The same applies to the female organ. We women are in the most liberated nation and can make our own choices about spouses, lovers, partners, etc. It irritates me to hear so much blame placed on men, and little placed on women. Since when is it illegal for women to buy condoms and other contraceptives??? If you don't want a baby there are plenty of ways not to get one. Many times that "deadbeat" was a deadbeat when you were getting your groove on, but now that a child is created you expect him/her to miraculously change in nine months.
