Comment: I was watching one of the entertainment shows last night and after Greys won, they were all gathered together. Shonda Rhimes was standing in front of the mic, Isiah grabbed and said, "no I did not call him (whatever dudes name is)a faggot". His outburst was unnecessary and uncalled for and left his cast members speechless! He had no reason to ruin everyone's moment with that random outburst. Now, I don't watch the show (can't seem to get into the hype of it), but, I am happy that true actors are working and someone like Shonda (a sistah) is behind this phenomenon. Isiah must know he is skating on thin ice with this latest act. He needs to just let it go already!

Comment: I think the issues are that he repeated the slur in front of the world press with the whole cast behind him on what was supposed to be a joyful occassion, he jumped out of nowhere to say that into the mic, and everybody on the cast who heard him knows he is lying. If he had just let Shondra answer, I'm sure she could have come up with something that finessed it away, and there would be no issue today. But all he did was remind people that he has no problem saying that word anytime, anywhere. If he makes himself a liability to the popular show, he will lose his job, and he will have done it to himself.

Now, it is going full steam ahead again because he will now be perceived as reckless and "difficult." Once you are labeled with that, it is hard to re-establish yourself as a professional. Perception is everything. Though he is a fine actor, he shot his mouth off once too often and in the wrong place.
I'm sure he received a very cool reception at the after parties. And some folks are not like us. We get hot about something for a few days. They remember - for a long time - and actively plot your demise.

But I do feel you on this issue of black men being perceived as arrogant.
My take on it was that he got tired of hearing about the issue and spoke out of turn. He was angry and just wanted to put the thing to rest. Unfortunately for Isaiah and his career, that was neither the time nor the place. It especially saddens me in light of the fact that three blacks won awards for movies at the Golden Globes. Isaiah has the talent to do tv and movies. I doubt that he will get the chance now. Opportunities like Grey's Anatomy don't come along very often.
