Comment: It's a shame that Mr. Brown hasn't been gone a week and the fighting starts.
They all should show some respect.
If the woman has a house down the street then she's not homeless, and I'm sure the attorney wouldn't do anything illegal to lose his law degree.
Bottom line is if the woman married Mr. Brown while married to another man they were not legally married and there isn't a thing she can do.
I'm pretty sure her child will be taken care of along with his other adult childern.
If there was a will and I hope there was then that will settle everything.

Comment: Makes you wonder what Tomi was really up to. Makes you wonder how James really felt about her. If she legally resided in that house then I don't think they can keep her from it. She's making a lot of noise but it ain't making a lot of sense. I'm guessing that the day he slapped the taste out of her was the day he found out 1) she wasn't completely divorced from the other marriage and/or 2) that the baby isn't really his...2 things that make you go, hummmmm...Now I don't know either one of them so of course I'm speculating and sense I'm at work and bored there wasn't much else for me to come up with today. My advice to Tomi is to hand over her driver's license that has her legal address on it and hand over her marriage license to James. Otherwise, go somewhere and sit yo hiney down.

They are proud to leave their Black wealth with white women with children that will call themselves multi-racial which is another way for many of them to distance themselves from the Black part of their heritage. The Black men that do it figure its the best way to insure that the wealth they leave behind benefits the Black community. That house is probably all he got which is why they fighting over it. This is a perfect example of why people need air-tight wills. Regardless of whether he and Tomi were legally married or not, his %*$ets should go as HE wished whether she is a golddigger or not. If he wanted her to have EVERYTHING he owned in this world and for his other children to get nothing so be it! The problem is we don't know yet what he wanted. Why is it that when a rich old man marries a poor woman half his age, only the woman is looked upon with disdain? Any old rich man KNOWS that the only way he can get a younger, attractive woman is because he IS rich. He knows that if he was broke, that youngster wouldn't give him the time of day. Why doesn't he get with a woman his own age, or closer to it, who has her own resources? Because he's getting what he wants- a younger woman. Thus they are using each other and each getting what they want from the relationship. Also, if he didn't want this woman, he would have kicked her to the curb the minute he found out she wasn't legally divorced from her previous husband. (If he didn't already know it...) Plus, why didn't he think that if she would leave her current husband for him, she wasn't of good character and would probably do the same to him or have shaky motives? Because he got what he wanted- a younger woman who otherwise wouldn't give him the time of day. Now before I get shot down in a hail of gunfire, let me say that I grew up on James Brown's music and I love and respect him for what he was and STILL IS to the entertainment world and our culture in particular. Without James, there would be no Prince, no Michael, no Ursher, no rap, just to name a few. He is the original, and there will be no other after him. God rest his soul. OK, ducking for cover......

W/out being married to your partner, you cannot ID the body,make any medical decisions, NOTHING. You are left out of any and all decisions. Tomi was sloppy as hell about the 1st marriage and should've known better, and she's unbelievably insensitive to bring this out in public w/out anything to back it up. I hope that this is handled equitably for the sake of their son and that this man can FINALLY start to rest in peace.

Sounds like to me she wanted to start grabbibg things. In terms of her previous marriage, she's a grown azz woman and knows she was STILL married even as she was going through the ceremony with James. So IMO (and I'm sure in James' adult children's opinions as well) she can take the crocodile tears elswhere. Now, she'll eventually get her taste of money because they have a child together. But the adult children should make sure that 12/13-year obligation (the child is 5 or 6, right?) doesn't get out of hand either.

Comment: We can't knock Tomi Raye for wanting to get home. I felt it was very insensitive for JB's lawyer to lock this woman out on the street with JB's child! Regardless, that she's white, JB knew who and what she was(shiftless or not). JB handled his children's trust but this was the last relationship of his life and she was living in his home. The lawyer should of waited 40 days before making a move. This was tacky on the lawyer's part.

Comment: I hate that whenever a person's family and legal counsel don't like the choices a person makes, they wait 'til the person dies and then try to negate the decisions the person made while alive. I think that that's a HUGE reason why there are so many after death disputes. B/c the people who are still alive take action based on what THEY believe the dead person SHOULD have been doing. JB's kids and lawyers probably hated Tomi and didn't want JB to be with her. But at the same time, it's not their right to try to correct whatever wrongs they think went on.

Comment: The thing is Tomi is not on the streets without a change of clothes, she does allegedly have her own home plus she even said she had been away for several weeks on "vacation" and although he was in the hospital and she knew it she didn't cut her vacation short (in my opinion) to be with James on his sickbed. That relationship has been in trouble for quite a while according to many reports so more than likely she probably knew she didn't have anything coming just hoping that everyone thought that she did have something coming. Like some else mentioned James probably saw the mess with Richard Pryor and Lou Rawls and decided he wasn't going out like that.

Remember this chick was still married to someone else which was why the marriage was annulled, that in itself kinda takes it away from poor little James Brown widow who has been done wrong to someone who seems a little shady.
