Comment: My mother and my sister told me that this was such a good movie. I can't wait to see it. I think that it comes out next weekend here. I heard Will Smith was really good in this movie.

Name: TJthemilitant
Comment: Cannot wait to see this movie!..But come on EURWEB..."happyness"?..Whose proof reading your sh*t?

Name: Stuckinthe70s
Comment: TJ, That's the name of the movie, honestly!

Name: stuckintheROK
Comment: I thought that the correct title of the movie was the "pursuit of happyness"?

Name: khufu
Comment: bravo! Im still hoping that all this (this story, the eventual Oscar nominations for Whitaker, Dreamgirls, etc) will translate into more Black films in and from Hollywood featuring stories that are good and wonderful and creative---well, you get my point. Thing is with thi film---Will's crossover appeal helped make its success.

Comment: "this"

Name: jboy
Comment: Can't wait to see this. I have a friend that only likes Black movies if they are "HOOD" movies. I honestly don't believe most of US go for that dribble and hope that we all turn out in DROVES just to prove to hollywood that we don't.

Name: Maverick
Comment: The title for the movie was deliberately spelled that way. If you read the book you will understand why.

Name: bigchassie
Comment: Kudus to Big Willie. you work the thing!

Name: HoneyMack
Comment: Alright "Big Willie Style"!!

Name: goodnplenty1957
Comment: this has potential to be a good month at the box office for black movies. cause you know dreamgirls gonna pack em in. two black movies in the top 10 at the same time. historical.

Name: 2timely
Comment: To be honest, I'm not a big Will fan, however, seeing this movie Saturday he has won over a new fan. The emotion he put in the movie was overwhelming, and his son um um um...very talented! This movie was a reality check that I'm one paycheck from being homeless myself, I need to make better decisions financially. I'm definately going to pursure my goal of going to Grad School! Thanks Chris & Wil!!!

Name: Mimi
Comment: The movie was good, and that little boy needs a job! Amazingly, I only cried once! Thandie's role waa a bit much - I certainl;y hope the real Mrs Gardner wasn't that foul.

Name: gingerg
Comment: I'm delighted with the success of this movie. And with Dreamgirls coming up, December is going to rock for black stars. Let's keep the support going strong and send a clear message to Hollywood - we want more quality productions.

Name: bigchassie
Comment: 2TIMEY>Right on! good luck and do your thing! and DON'T STOP! PURSUE YOUR DREAM, SWEETIE! I'M PROUD OF YOU!

Comment: OH, I went to see the movie. And I really havent been a Will smith fan since the second season of Fresh Prince aired. But, you guys I love him in this movie! I almost cried and I dont do that. He stepped up his game, like Jamie did in Ray. If he does not win the Oscar I would be so hurt. People in the movie theater clapped loudly at the end of the movie. Everyone go see it and then buy it. I will.

Name: katgrrrl
Comment: Just seeing the trailer for "The Pursuit of Happyness" actually made me cry a little. I can't wait to see this. I'm so proud of Will Smith.

Name: Chica
Comment: Excellent movie...I have to see it again and will purchase it when it is released on DVD. Will and Jaden were both believable. It's also a reality check with regards to not only the family situation but the homeless reality and their plight. It was also a cool idea to put the "real" guy in the end of the movie who was crossing the street at the same time as Will and Jaden. Bring the kleenex and shine off the Oscar(s)!

Name: bigchassie
Comment: CHICA>say, in the movie did they use the song "Ooh Chile" by the five stairsteps? i thought that song was so appropriate for the movie.

Name: MOTHERSHIP
Comment: Big Willie always brings it. One brother I have always been very proud of.

Name: bigchassie
Comment: FRAN>you know, i haven't seen this movie yet and i look forward to seeing it. but i knew Will was a great actor back when he was on Fresh Prince. he showed promise as dramatic actor in some episodes. remember that epidsode when he met his father that was played by Ben Vereen and then in climax when Ben abandons him again. that was a powerful scene. i'll never forget that scene too. Will is a wonderful actor.

Name: whatdat
Comment: Can anyone tell me how Black this movie and Dreamgirls are behind the scene: directors, producers, executive producers, writers--the significant positions? Also, can anyone tell me of a white movie that had Blacks in most of the positions just mentioned? Is a chocolate-covered marshmallow a chocolate-candy bar or a marshmallow?

Name: AquaBoogie
Comment: >2timely: Best of luck to you on grad school -- we need more Blacks with advanced degrees doing the damn thing!

Name: 2timely
Comment: BigChassie>>> Thank you for the encouragement! We all need a Cheerleader to keep us focus, and I appreciate your "Cheers"!

Name: Dovelyone
Comment: It was my understanding that the spelling of "Happyness" comes because it was the name of a daycare center or homeless shelter that Chris and his son were in.... It isn't a grammatical error. It is intentional spelling.

Name: Beezyuu
Comment: I am a hugh fan of Will's since his Fresh Prince days so I knew this movie would kick azz. Will did a great job and Jaden is equally talented so come on people and keep this movie at the top.

Name: LoveSpree
Comment: EXCELLENT movie!!!!! Will was great and little Jaden was phenomenal!! I too got choked up. I was glad I saw the preview on Oprah because it helped me look at it from the perspective of being a real life story and not just a movie.

Name: khufu
Comment: whatdat.....David Geffen is behind Dream Girls...start there.......

Name: khufu
Comment: whatdat...as for Will's fim...Overbrook Entertainment is him, his wife and a white partner......start there.....on Happyness.....

Name: timmdogg
Comment: For once, the reviews here in the room is truly positive from all members. We as a race of people are truly intelligent and can show much love to one another! I for one am proud of us a a collective race. Thank you Will & Jaden for letting the rest of the world know that black people are proud and responsible father's also! I will see this movie this weekday and I am not afraid to say if the brother is representing us like you all have said, I will be the first to stand up and clap... hell, I might even shed a tear of two!!! :-)

Name: timmdogg
Comment: I made a few grammatical errors...(are) instead of is....(or) instead of "of"...duh!!!!

Name: yelleyw
Comment: Saw the movie this weekend it was EXCELLENT!! Will definitley stepped up his game in this movie. His son did a great job also. Whatdat>> Will was a producer for this movie

Name: VeeCee
Comment: This has to be the best movie I have seen all year. Kudos to Will and Jaden Smith and Thandie Newton for phenomenal performances. And thank you Chris Gardner; your story says it all. I just bought the book last night and cannot wait to start reading it.

Name: TinayPretty
Comment: The movie was wonderful. It was a bit to long however, but the emotion of the movie made it worth it. The Smiths, "what a BEAUTIFUL FAMILY".

Name: clotel
Comment: What an AWESOME movie and I am so looking forward to reading the book as well. I also like that this is an extremely positive movie about Black men. "Hood" movies are cool too as they reach out to a different as well as new audience. However, since we are not monolithic, it is always refreshing to see a new perspective about the black experience that is not chock full of junk and stereotypes. KUDOS TO THE CAST OF 'HAPPYNESS.' - WHAT A BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL MOVIE..:-)

Name: WordUp
Comment: Will and Jada are going down in history! These two real lovebirds wanna be spiritually connected to each other and the black experience by doing things that will really make a difference to the black race. I applaud these two powerhouses. It was meant for Will to get with Jada. It would have been a big mistake to remain with his other baby mama. Jada has done much for Will Smith's ego. But I am not down with misspelling words. Happiness should be spelled properly for the sake of children learning how to spell right. It's not a good thing to misspell words to create "clever" movie titles. But I don't think Will and Jada had anything to do with it.

Name: JamerDelta
Comment: I saw this movie yesterday!!! Yes! I cried and I laughed and the whole audience applauded twice. It was really great acting and was a good reality gut check knowing that someone actually went through this and it was probably worse in real life. Also, I believe that Chris Gardner was also a producer along with Will and his company.

Name: mocha
Comment: I have not seen the movie yet. I did read the book. It was incredible! Some parts were so intense I had to put it down. I hope the movie captures the same intimate portrait of a great man who overcame so much. Congratulations to everyone who made this happen.

Name: Chica
Comment: >Bichassie - I'm not sure if they used that song in the film or not...I was so engrossed in the film to notice what music was being used. I have to see it again for sure. Kudos to Will and Jaden...a dynamic duo.

Name: StopBeingIgnant
Comment: <<< WordUp >>> The misspelling wasn't to create a "clever" movie title. Scroll up and read why it's spelled the way it is. If kids are reading movie posters and ads to learn how to spell, then we got bigger problems than we thought.

Name: Dovelyone
Comment: >>Hey, BigChassie... that scene from the Fresh Prince when Will asks about his dad was SOOOO TOUCHING!!! I hurt for him and those boys (and girls) who hurt because of the absence of the fathers. I especially hurt for them because I did (and still do) have a very present father in my life. That's why the Happyness story is so profound. I hope fathers are inspired by this movie to do more/better.

Name: Deb70
Comment: I saw this movie this past weekend and it is one of the best movies I've ever seen. I went with my brother and my 5-year-old nephew. My brother could relate all too well to the movie because certain choices he has made in his life had him almost homeless, in jail for parking tickets, etc. But his son never stopped loving him through all of it. He was crying through much of the film. And yes, the audience I was with applauded twice in unison during the film also. And cheered Will on in the movie. Jaden is such a magnificent little actor. I was so impressed with him. Will should win an Oscar for Best Actor and Jaden should seriously win for Best Supporting Actor. This movie is outstanding. And it was interesting that race was never specifically mentioned in the movie as being a factor that initially held Will's character back. It was the elephant in the room noone addressed. At a press conference, when asked about it, Will said that basically, the white man can only hold you down if you acknowledge his presence. I partially agree with that. But race is a factor in life, and one has to admit that.

Name: MOTHERSHIP
Comment: Khufu, Will's partner is not white. He's the other half of Overbrook Entertainment and he grew up with Will.

Name: gingerg
Comment: Next week, let's make Dreamgirls #1 and Happyness #2.

Name: justafu
Comment: Props 2 Will Smith and everybody involved with this movie because the article is right in that black men especially black fathers get NO LOVE at all alot of times! This movie shows that SOME bros are trying to do the right thing no matter the hardships!

Name: khufu
Comment: James Lassitter is a brother?well if he is I stand corrected

Name: prettygirl
Comment: This is an excellent family movie and I strongly recommend buying a ticket to see it and then purchasing the DVD when it is released. Will is genuine in this movie and Jaden has some acting chops. He has that Dakota Fanning kid BEAT!

Name: CalyQT
Comment: I saw it on the 13th & though it was a bit long, I didn't want it to end, I wanted to know what happened next & more about what he did to rack in those millions. I've already ordered the book.

Name: gingerg
Comment: Chris Darden is now a highly successful stockbroker who works for himself. Multimillionaire, baby.

Name: Babygurl
Comment: I hope all these deadbeat black dads look at this film, man up and take responsibility for the lives of their families. It's hard, but the most important thing is to keep your family together. My husband cried at the end.

Name: TesticAl
Comment: I do not plan on seeing this movie whatsover, but I am proud of Will. Congratulations to him.

Name: gingerg
Comment: I have to go see this movie. I come from a family where my father did not take care of his responsibilities. I want to see what that looks like and revel in the fact that this movie is based on a real life story featuring a strong black man who has done well for himself and his family.

Name: Untouchable
Comment: I was planning to see the movie anyway since it seemed interesting. Then I saw Oprah and learned that it was about a real person. Btw, every comment about the movie is positive, that's almost a first. I should congratulate WS on that alone!! Hope he gets an oscar, he deserves one.

Name: rikyrah
Comment: Loved this movie. Made me cry, but it was a beautiful message. Will and Jaden Smith did a terrific job.
