Comment: If it was one white man doing this to another, it would just be a prank. White man doing it to black man it is racial. Where does that make sense? So now you can't do pranks on people because if they are not the same race as you you will be called a racist. This is so out of control I don't even know what to say. This world is going down the toilet. And it says here that he was playing pranks on his coworkers. They should sue his %*$ for the same thing. I am sooo tired of everything being called racism!

Comment: This guy is a joke and the council members that sided with him are full of shyt as well. He's a total hypocrite in knowing how to dish it out but not knowing how to take it. How come some people have to make everything about race nowadays? Why did he think crying was going to get him some sympathy? I see nothing wrong with hazing, short of anyone getting seriously hurt or dying. I went through it when I pledged Kappa in college and when I was crossing the equator while in the navy. I broke a few paddles on scrollers in my lifetime but nothing that would warrant a 2.7 million settlement. Earl Ofari is an ignorant m.f. He lost me when he called on blacks to stick up for illegal and also when he went to bat for Tookie Williams.

Comment: I work for the City of Los Angeles and I know a few black firefighters and they agreed with me that this bozo was full of shyt. I know that racism still exists but it's not it was before....not by a longshot. Hazing, when used properly is a good form of bonding.

Comment: Train...I agree with both of your posts except the last line of your second one -- "Hazing, when done properly is a good form of bonding." Psychologically breaking folks down into submission does NOT create bonding NO matter how many folks are going through the experience with you.
Seems like old boy is crying wolf. He can't have it both ways. If he engaged in pranks then he should have expected pranks to be played on him. Don't cry foul when it's your turn for the payback. Bigfriend...I'm with you. Too often we do cry racism when it's clearly not. Old boy just got payback served in the form of dog food. Hell, he should be happy it wasn't dog SHYT they mixed up in his food. (LOL)

Comment: << I know that racism still exists but it's not it was before....>> Train, you are right. It is not as bad as it was before because it is worse. It is worse because most whites and a good number of Black people pretend its better.

Comment: I waited until i had more information on this story before commenting. I heard a radio interview of a Black L.A. fireman this morning--a thirty-one year veteran. According to him, L.A. City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo told the L.A. City Council they should award Pierce $2.7 million because the City Attorneys couldn't win the case. The fireman pointed out how unusual that is. The City Attorney office has defended the L.A. Police Dept. in cases in which the LAPD's action appeared to be clearly racist. Yet, in this case, Delgadillo feels the only wise course is to avoid court and pay the award. The fireman revealed another consideration. The City Attorney's Dept. would have to pay $3 to $4 million to a Century City law firm to prosecute the case. Delgadillo knows the city will lose regardless of the two courses available to it. Therefore, the pragmatic thing to do is save the city money by paying the $2.7 million.
