Comment: Najee Ali is one of the most active "Activists" in the community of Los Angeles in bringing positive influences to make this city a better place. When there are issues that need to be addressed which needs to be brought to the attention of the people, especially in the future of setting a good example for children Najee is there. The most recent was the "Drink called Cocaine" which definitely sends a wrong message. As growing up in this city and working in the community I have not seen Maxine out to support this community unless it is for her benefit. I worked with the
Black Caucus during the "70's & 80's the Black Leaders were there and supported this community. The leaders that I see out there are Karen, Jan, Herb who support the issues.Najee Ali and Rev Tullos seem to be ones who are here and care about the people.

Comment: I would like to see the full list of corrupt black politicians - it's not something that should have just been published in a community paper. Part of policing our own is sharing information good and bad. Also, at some point I pray Ali and Waters are able to mend fences - their battle is just another level of black on black violence.

Comment: Poverty pimps again at work, taking care of family and friends before doing the work you are elected to perform on a daily basis.

Comment: I love the firey Maxine Waters, but, the corruption thing leaves a sour taste in my mouth, along with those horrible wigs she wears. I wish that the two of them could be mature and get over this hump, there are far too many pressing issues for black folks in LA than a silly fued, like saving King-Drew medical center.

Comment: Comment to Edna Mae - Your comment is well taken. Where was Maxine all this time when the King Drew needed the support from her and the Board of Supervisors to save that hospital. Those problems had been there for years. She knew about them, but neither she nor the Board of Supervisors cared enough to straighten out the mess that was going on within, so the people in that community could have a hospital that was managed efficiently. Everybody wound up suffering, Dr's, Nurses, employees and the most of all the patients. Because of their lack of concern. She wanted to Grand stand in a Church parking lot no less, she should have been in the Board of Supervisors faces asking "WHY???"

Comment: It is bad enough that we are getting screwed by Bush and his gang but it is really bad when our own folks don't walk the talk and don't even really care about the community. Just a bunch of buffoons with their hands out for themselves. I would also like to see the corrupt list and probably everyone in politics is on there. I am not too familiar with the Black politics of LA. This is my first hearing about these alledges of Mrs. Waters. Oldschool Brother said it right "poverty pimps" especially that Al Sharpton. He hasn't done anything but run his fat mouth for his fat pockets. The only person that I see that has a real agenda is Barack Obama.

Comment: I'm disappointed to read that Mrs. Waters is considered one of the most corrupt politicians. But, I don't understand how giving your family a "hook-up" considered corrupt. Unless they used some questionable means to get that hook-up, i.e bribes, contract awards. According to this article her family members, as I read it, benefited from use of the family name and that happens all the time in the work force, college admissions and etc. As far as my own congressman, William Jefferson, that's a perfect example of corruption.

Comment: It is corruption. Think about it. If you know a deal is going down, you should alert the people that elected you first, bring up the area you are supporting. Why hook up the family, they will get theirs regardless. This is where black pols get it twisted. For example, in Chicago, gentrification is going on full blast. But thet local pols already own several businesses in the area, if that was me, I would have made sure people who live in the area had first chance at that, made sure they had the paperwork squared away, etc. You keep the money in the community and you let people know that you can can come up also.
