Comment: I don't know who's worse Gays or Jews...Look this is a free country and folks are free to say what they feel without censorship...if you all don't like Beenie - then don't listen to his music or go to his show simple. Gays kill me trying to force people to cater to their whims...

Comment: Y'all done started some shat up in here! The fact is rather than complain, don't buy beenie's music and don't go to his shows. I don't know what kind of support they thought they'd get considering beenie is pretty popular. Bighead - it appears that animals aren't as lacking in rational thought as some folk would have you think.lol

Comment: Let me be clear, I am a Black gay man speaking out against musicians who sing about murdering Black gay people. If these musicians recorded a song about murdering your mother and then came to your neighborhood to perform it, you wouldn't just say "Oh, let's see a movie instead." You wouldn't stand for it if it was your life that was being threatened. We aren't just talking about people's dissenting opinions and traditions - we are talking about people singing about murder while people ARE being murdered. We are talking about murdering each other in our own communities. It's quite simple, really - you either agree that we should be murdered or not. Don't act like you care about the sanctity of life when you don't care about the sanctity of everyone's life. And don't act like you're concerned about HIV/AIDS when you advocate the murder of those of us who are doing the work of raising awareness and getting people tested and doing it in our communities!

Comment: Darragent so Beenie's performing free of charge for an HIV/AIDS Charity event...which in my opinion is a good cause...he's fairly popular with the fastest growing segment of the population getting infected and yet you all want to boycott and prevent him from perhaps saving a few lives - I tell you the truth gay folks can be so self serving...get over yourselves.

Comment: This is just a shame, these foolsih "singers" and that sort of garbage. AIDS is killing whole generations of young, beautiful black women, and black men, and these shows should be set up to stop the spread of HIV, not be some sort of a platform for uneducated morons to spew hate. Funny, how these "singers" take on issues that demean black gays, and never any real issues, like the abject poverty in Jamacia. And, anytime you have someone say kill another human, that is a sad day.

Comment: I'm shocked and saddened for what happened to Mr. Williamson is an outrage and I do hope his murders have been brought to justice. Ridiculous ! It sickens me that a BLACK man would call for the public LYNCHING of another BLACK because he doesn't like what goes on in that other man's BEDROOM. Now folks up in here would throw a fit if a black female group wrote and songs about castrating and/or killing rappers because of their misogyny; let alone be allowed to perform in venues for black youth. How is this different ? Really check yourself and ask yourself if you TRULY believe that some people deserve DEATH just because they exist. CHECK YOURSELF.

Comment: I can see from the posts that some of your ignorance as it relates to gays and lesbians have allowed you to not see the bigger picture which is that no artist should be calling for the murder of anyone and that's it a complete contraction to have homophobic reggae artists performing at an AIDS concert. AIDS isn't only affecting women, it still is affecting the lives of many Black gay men and these same men are the subject time and time again of hateful lyrics from reggae artists. Gays of Caribbean descent continue to be targets of hate crimes, including murder. It has only been a little over two years since Brian Williamson, a Jamaican gay activist and founder of Jamaica’s gay civil rights group J-FLAG was found murdered, his body mutilated by multiple knife wounds, simply because he was gay. There is no justifying that. Similarly, if an artist was accused of Jew bashing in their lyrics, do you think this would even be in question right now? No it would not. This is a perfect time for Black America to wake and address the mysogony and homophobia that we promote in our music and community and I for one am glad to be a part of this campaign.

Comment: Jasmyne<<< I agree it is time to end this self hatred and mysogny in the black communites. First these "rappers' spew out a hatred for black women nonstop and now this dance hall trash bellowing about black gays, disgusting. There are major issues that are devasting the black population, and I for one don't see why these issues aren't being addressed. it seems that this obsession with gays from the pulpit and the sound stuidos is getting totally out of control. Let people do what they want in the bed, i don't care as long as they are not hurting anyone, and get to the real issues, bad schools and lack of decent jobs for young black men and a legal system that throws them under the jail for jay walking. Leave all this homphophobia for the "conservatives" who don't want to face the real issues.

Comment: xavi another poster tried to say that a researcher somewhere found that penguins had the potential. I said then I say now bullshat! penguins like ducks mate for life. Humans are the only species with nerve enough to justify homosexual behavior. As for the other posters trying to enlighten I didn't see any hate in the post as I wrote it but even if there were I have a right to my opinion and the issues I find relevant. Going after this man for words in his music will be the same as going after the rappers - you'll just be pissing in the wind. I don't buy music or listen to cds of anyone's music I don't like the words to.

Comment: McNasty, It's not only penguins. Dogs & some other primates have been seen doing this. Mating for life, and "playing" w/ ones mates are not mutually exclusive.
I agree, I don't buy what I don't like neither do most people.
But all of us try to influence others when we don't like something. You don't have to go much further than the postinga about Star being fired to see all of the people saying stop whatching the view.
I didn't think of what you said as hate, but, some people like to go overboard.
The comment "it appears that animals aren't as lacking in rational thought as some folk would have you think" may be construed as anti gay/homophobic.
They have shut down Beenie before, so why not try again? It's w/ in their right.
We as a people can learn from groups like this. When you have something stupid going against you. Fight/protest.
Don't complain about the "jews" or the "gays" and what they get. They have learned that there is strength in numbers, and they use that knowledge. Don't hate appreciate
DCGG people talking about lynching you and you not liking it is not a "whim". Not agreeing w/ someone, and advocating killing them are two totally different things.
And lastly JESUS was a JEW so was Mary Joseph, Solomon, Moses & David.

Comment: Sorry Jasmyne, I am more concerned with the domestic rights of heterosexual couples (who are in accordance with the NATURAL laws of God, but yet get no respect) than those of homosexual couples (whose rights get shoved down the throats of the American people at EVERY TURN). IT AIN'T NATURAL

Comment: Black folks on this board still don't seem to get it. The same arguments used against gays were used against black people. (ie it is immoral for____ them to do this job. God did not intend for (fill in the blank to marry, join the army, live near us,etc) We can't see the same people against gay marriage are the same people who not too long ago turned the water hoses and sic dogs on men women and children. The fact is we all have someone who is gay in our own families. Do you want to look them in the eye and tell them they do'nt have the same human rights as you do?

Comment: Although I don't agree with the lifestyle, I think everyone is entitled to rights. Gays have a right to protest and be heard just like anyone else. I think it is downright cruel. Respect is respect. If there was someone who made a song about Blacks being on welfare and giving out AIDS and it was the #1 song on the Billboards, we would all be ready to protest to get the song off radio waves. Regardless if you didn't plan on listening or buying the song, it still is inhumane to record a disgusting song of that nature. That is the reality of it. Wrong is wrong!

Comment: How can you even mention the Civil Rights era when black people were hosed, bit, hung and everything else they endured because they were born black, and compare it to gay rghts? COME ON! Gay activists are continuously hijacking the civil rights movement and using the hard fought gains of racial minorities to justify their lifestyle and use it to force society to affirm their behaviour regardless of peoples moral beliefs. Skin color or ethnicity involves no moral choices but how you conduct yourselves sexually does. Shutting down such an important event as this AIDS awareness concert because these two reggae singers have a problem with homosexuality is really a bit much. Granted, the viciousness of their songs should not be condoned, but at least you know from the jump where they are coming from. Weren't there any other singers on the program who had a positive message to give and the opportunity to lend their voices to this cause was lost because of the gay anger toward these two people. And why were there in the first place? Someone had to invite them to be on the program .. or maybe they were invited with the intent to embarass them, and it worked. We all have a right to approve or disapprove of whatever we choose to, and should not be villified becuase of our choices. Here again is another example of the gay in-your-face behavior. And Kofi, we all do not have a gay person in our families .. I find that to be a rather presumptuous statement.
