Comment: I have yet to watch this Desperate "HouseHo's" sh*t, but I do recall them getting a black family..So now what?..They killed off one of the sons, now they have to move from the neighborhood?...The family was from Chicago and both brothers had white chicks?...I applaud dude for speaking out on the non-developement of Alfre Woodard's character..She should have had more shine on then show..

One I ain't down with no show with the word "desperate" in it, two, there were much better shows to watch that I thoroughly enjoyed, "American Legends" on TVOne, for one. Comment: The way the show ended this season left a loud and clear message to how Hollywood really feels about Black folks in general, Black men in particular. They made the Black man out to be violent, incapable of loving even his own mother, almost animal-like and still desiring white women more than anything else in the world. They shot and killed the one who seemed good at first but proved to be a menace to society and left the retarded one to live with his mother after both were outcast from their "decent" white neighbors. WHATEVER. Don't get it twisted, Jews run Hollywood and they don't think very highly of us. From the records they allow us to make and reward u$ for calling each other niggah and btch and hoes, the entertainment industry is clowning Black folks all the way to the bank.

Because I don't have to see that annoying-azzed Eva on the sidelines anymore mugging for the camera for the rest of the post season games!!!! And I won a dollar! But anyway, back to the topic - I never watched this show because it seemed lame from the start. Y'all are acting surprised that they would have black men portrayed as depraved beasts hot for white meat. It amazes me how naive black folk can be sometimes in regard to who white people view them. I was once at a bridal shower and this dumpy, fat white chick was talking about the bride's brothers (they are Samoan) and how Samoan men just LOVE white women. And I was sitting there thinking that white women think they can pull any dude of color, no matter how dumpy/fat/homely they are and the sad thing is that for many brothers, it's true. So sad...

Comment: I watch the show. I actually enjoy it. The Applewhite's weren't well really thought out. From the very beginning the storyline was a "very secretive Black family moves in, they don't want visitors." This did not allow the characters to meet and become friends (like the other characters on the show)and limited the development of the Applewhite's. By the time they created a relationship with Son Applewhite and Daughter VandeeKamp is was to late. The storyline had no roots to attach itself to the rest of the show. On the contrary with the Solis family, Gabrielle and Carlos's lives were set up to be integrated characters into the overall storyline.

Comment: Maybe Alfre Woodard was too dark for W-Lane. I watch the show and thought it was interesting. I too was disappointed with the direction of the only black family on the block...The next "black" person they bring on board will probably be some, half white, 1/4 spanish chick that had a half black, 1/2 spanish parent.....light bright and almost white. I for one am disappointed with the lack of respresentation of black women all together in advertising, television, magazine articles, etc....

Comment: Co-sign Mother-I was never down with some show about women calling itself "Desperate." I absolutely hate the name of that show and I hate even more how women flock to it, especially women of color...but to each her own. I heard about this story line with the black family and I thought the concept was horrible. Blah to the whole show.

Comment: FYI: In the fall, the new network, the CW will be airing "Girlfriends" and the spin-off, "The Game" against Desperate Housewives. You wanna talk about Hollywood sending a message to Black America? The CW is obviously setting Girlfriends and The Game up to be cancelled, and will blame it on the ratings, or lack thereof. The stereotypes on DH towards black men were crazy, and offensive. I knew it was near the end when they set up the black boy with the white girl. Everything went to pot after that.

I look at a lot of shows (and movies) like Sex In The City and say..I would appreciate an all Black cast but I dont think the mass ratings would be there
2. "APPLEWHITE" analyze the name and that will give you some insight to the characters development and their symbolic significance
3. Alfre Woodard would have taken the show over if they gave her more space...you kow that
4. Are you really really really really surprised? If you are, when are you going to wake p about Hollywood and America?
5. Hmmmmm..is there a sociological, political and historical relationship between this and the Tyler Perry "House of Payne" development as far as Black representation in Hollywood--on the boob tube and the silver screen? Think about it.....

According to CW Press release: As for lineup specifics, the four comedies - "Chris," "All of Us," "Girlfriends" and "The Game" - shift to Sundays starting at 8:00/7:00c. Comment: Big ups to mocha, I just love a conscious sister! One more thing, I don't watch the show but read about the supposed Black family on it and another thing most missed is the sad typing and expectation that a Black family will be void of a Father. While for the most part it may be kind of true in the US today, I believe that when society "expects" this to be the norm, many in our on community come to accept this and thus, perception becomes reality. The one show that comes to mind with a strong Fatherly figure is Chris Rock's show. The job that both Terry Crews and Tchina Arnold does on the show, showing a loving and hard working family is what most of the Black folk watching this other non-realistic crap needs to be watching.

Comment: I didn't watch the show either, no blacks and I'm sick of seeing white women shows where most of what they do is shop and display their lack of morals. This show was way too lily white for me and since it had one of the Melrose place cast on I knew there would be a ho of a story line and I wasn't wrong. The powers that be never meant for the black family to hang around, it was only long enough to garner a larger black following and from the comments on this board, they were right!

Comment: I was over desperate housewives long ago. The whole show is annoying and all the ethic characters are stereotyped. Gabrielle the oversexed spicy latin how. Carlos the overbearing highly sexed latin male. And the Applewhites were doomed from the start. Funny though, Desperate Housewives got shook when Grey's Anatomy came out and got higher ratings, so they had to move them to Thursdays...right against CSI. Hollywood makes me sick.

Comment: I watched about 17 minutes of the first show of DH and turned it off because it seemed like a soap opera. When I heard the advertisement that a black family was moving in the neighborhood I said ok I'll give it another shot. I couldn't even finish without thinking "how stupid is this" and from that point I never watched DH again. I soo repsect Alfre Woodard and was shocked that she took a part like that. DH has a certain mentality that is truly fit for white people and we blacks are far too classy to associate ourselves with this junk. My people, my people please stop watching this s*h*i*t.

Last but certainly not least, you got the latina slut, who %*$!ed just about everybody on her block, the dumb %*$!( cheated on her husband and got pregnant and as luck would have it she lost the baby. All the drama going on with these white people and you stereotype the only sane black people on the show? You know? You're right! Black people "don't need" to be on Wistera Lane. Wisteria made us look bad!!!!!
